The recent seasons of "Bigg Boss" was full of sleaze, fights and gossips. The format of the show, adapted from the Dutch TV reality show "Big Brother," was such that the makers had to allocate it into the late night segment.
But looks like things are changing now. Khan's show is one of the
biggest TRP churners, and a change in timing would mean toning down the
controversial elements of the show.
"Bigg Boss 8 unlike the earlier seasons will go on air in place
of Beintehaa and Rangsrasiya between 9pm to 10pm. Preetika Rao and
Sanaya Irani's shows that went on air in the 9 and 9.30pm slots respectively will be postponed to accommodate this voyeuristic reality show," according to a Bollywood Life report.
Earlier, there were reports of daily soaps "Beintehaa" and "Rangrasiya" being moved to the 10.30 and 11 pm slots, and Tina Dutta and Rashmi Desai's "Uttaran" was to go off air. But now the arrangement has apparently changed.
BL quoted a source, according to which the channel isn't
convinced with the way "Rangrasiya" has been performing and might stall
the daily soap instead of giving it a different time slot.
Suchitra Pillai, who plays as Surraiya Usman Abdullah in "Beintehaa," told BL, "I expect Colors to bring in 'Bigg Boss' at the prime time slot. Our show is also doing well, we have a loyal fan base."
"Bigg Boss 8," which is said to be starting on 20 September, will
reportedly see a slew of interesting contestants this year. From Khan's
rumoured girlfriend Lulia Vantur to Aloknath aka 'Babuji', the makers
have apparently gone for celebrities who are popular and come with
interesting backgrounds.
